Cenla Total Care Pediatrics is an outpatient pediatric clinic servicing patients ages birth to 21 years of age. We are seeking a bright Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with a great attitude, outgoing personality, and excellent customer service skills to come and join our TEAM! Our new CMA team member would be responsible for assisting in both clinical and administrative areas including assisting the physician with patient care and handling front desk, environmental and organizational tasks. One Year of pediatric experience is preferred. VACCINE EXPERENCE IS REQUIRED.
Job Duties include but are not limited to :
- Patient care responsibilities : receives patient from the waiting room and performs intake of patient (i.e. vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, etc.) and charts information appropriately; Performing screenings per provider guidelines; Answering patient / parent calls and providing pertinent information; Communicating instructions to patients / parents.
- Administrative / organizational responsibilities : front desk reception (i.e. answering phones and scheduling appointments, greeting patients, completion of registration forms, giving instructions at patient check in, sending or receiving medical records, faxing referrals, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics); Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; Respects / promotes patient rights; Shares problems relating to patients and / or staff with immediate supervisor.
- Clinical responsibilities : measures and records vital signs; Records pertinent intake information (i.e. chief complaint, history, etc.); Prepares patients for examinations; Performs routine screening tests and basic lab tests; Assists physician with exams; Prepares and administers medications as per physician authorization; Changes dressings and / or applies bandages; Administers injections; Performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
- Environmental responsibilities : Cleaning exam / procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; Sorting and storing supplies; restocking exam / procedure rooms
Education, Training, and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalentGraduation from an accredited medical vocational institution or a community college course in medical assisting strongly preferredCurrent certification as a Clinical Medical AssistantAt least one-year work experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant in an ambulatory outpatient setting, Pediatric experience preferred.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CertificationKnowledge Skills and Abilities :
Must have computer skills and ability to efficiently input patient data and retrieve patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications.Excellent patient / customer service skills through effective communication both over the phone and in personUpholds HIPAA regulationsRespects cultural and religious practices of patientsExperience with administering vaccinations
