About The Position
Job Title : ICU Registered Nurse
Profession : Registered Nurse

Experience : 1 year ICU RN experience required (2+ years preferred)
License : Must have valid nursing license in hand upon submission, no pending license
Certifications : BLS and ACLS required (AHA only, no HeartCode)
Must-Have : NIH and OCN preferred
Description :
ICU RN for acuity-adaptable ICU managing different levels of care.
Flex up or flex down based on patient census.
Patient ratio usually 1 : 3-4.
Patients are not transferred out; care is managed in the same room.
This unit primarily cares for post-surgical, sepsis infection, and pain management patients.
Average daily census is approximately 14.
Pyxis medication system is utilized.
EPIC documentation system is in use.
SBAR communication standard is followed.
Floating to inpatient units is required, occasionally to the emergency room.
Weekend shifts are required every third week.
No on-call shifts.
Manager schedule is in place.
36-48 hours of orientation may be provided.
Pewter scrubs are required, but not provided.
First-time travelers are welcome.
Skills / Experience Required :
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with multi-system organ failure.
Knowledge of IV insulin protocols.
Experience in GI surgery and managing chronic / acute renal failure.
Ability to access ports and manage arterial lines.
Proficient in blood product administration and central line care / management.
Experience with PICC line management and starting IVs.
Knowledge of continuous IV paralytics and sedation.
Experience with emergency medications and procedural sedation administration.
Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips.
CVA / acute stroke management experience is preferred.
Post-craniotomy care experience is a plus.
Knowledge of chemotherapy administration is preferred.
Experience assisting with management of BiPAP and CPAP.
Ability to assist with chest tube insertion and removal.
Care of ventilated patients is required.
Familiarity with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is preferred.
Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
Experience with suctioning (ETT, NT).
Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and use of PPE.
Phlebotomy skills are desired.
Experience with surgical wounds and wound vacs is preferred.
Additional Information :
Interdisciplinary support includes teams for IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more.
This unit is well-equipped to manage varied patient diagnoses, primarily oncology cases.
Acuity adaptable care allows for flexibility in managing patient needs.
