Cisco's Security Visibility and Incident Command (SVIC) is looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer / Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data analysis solutions. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the various domains of information technology including, but not limited to, development, data science, data analysis, security, and / or big-data solutions. The candidate will work independently and with other team members to design, deploy, improve, and support solutions for security event detection, analysis, incident response, investigations, and forensics.

The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a "take-charge" / "can-do" attitude and is able to demonstrate flexibility and resiliency. Successful candidate must be self-sufficient and be able to work with minimal supervision. Work with geographically distributed teams across different time zones. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting large data sets, developing data models, and designing and implementing data-driven solutions.

The responsibilities of the position include the following :

  • Analyze and interpret large data sets to identify trends and insights.
  • Design, develop and implement data models and data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers to define business requirements and develop reports, dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines using programming languages such as Python, SQL.
  • Knowledge of running data analysis in tools like Jupyter Notebooks
  • Ensure data quality and consistency by implementing data governance processes and data validation checks.
  • Continuously monitor and improve data performance by identifying and resolving data-related issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and guidelines in data analytics, data management, and data visualization.
  • Design and implement automation solutions for cloud infrastructure deployment, management, and monitoring.
  • Work closely with the DevOps team to develop and implement continuous integration and deployment (CI / CD) pipelines.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure that applications are designed for optimal performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security teams on multi-functional analytics and automation of manual processes.

Relevant Technologies

The following technologies are in scope for the position.

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
  • Data analysis with tools like Jupyter Notebooks
  • Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages
  • Expertise with cloud solutions (AWS, Google, Azure)
  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions such as Azure or AWS.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data mining techniques will be. Big plus
  • Job Requirements

    The following skills and competencies are required for the position :

  • BS / MS in computer / data science or related degree and 2-5 years of experience
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure services, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Broad knowledge and experience in the various domains of information technology.
  • Some experience with a wide variety of security technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in technology solution design and deployment
  • Strong problem resolution / analytical skills required to understand complex system interactions.
  • Strong work prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong listening, communication (verbal and written) and relationship building skills.
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight throughout the entire lifecycle of a project.
