Under the general direction of the City Manager, the Public Works Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of all public works operations, ensuring alignment with municipal goals and service expectations. This role is responsible for managing departmental personnel. The Director leads capital improvement initiatives from planning through construction, partnering with consultants and contractors to ensure quality, fiscal responsibility, and timely delivery. Budget development and financial stewardship are central to the role. As a key contributor to the city's public improvement and development processes, the Director facilitates plan review, infrastructure integration, and right-of-way management, with internal and external stakeholders. A commitment to high-quality customer service and responsive communication is essential, as is the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, city staff, developers, contractors, and the public. The Director also ensures regulatory compliance and advances departmental policies and strategic plans to promote operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
