Commercial Business Analyst
As a Commercial Business Analyst in the Merchandising function, you are responsible for driving strategic analysis and merchandising insights through advanced customer and consumer data connected to product. The commercial business analyst has a deep interest in retail analytics, inventory optimization, and merchandising strategy. You will independently be able to set the scope and initiate analysis depending on the need of the merchandising organization as well as demonstrate leadership, analytical prowess, and a deep understanding of industry trends.
This hybrid role reports into our Commercial Merchandise Manager and is based out of New York, NY.
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities :
Analytics, insights and pricing :
- Conduct in-depth analysis of sales trends, customer behavior, and market dynamics to identify growth opportunities
- Work closely with Customer Activation team to combine web data, customer insights and product data to improve our assortment strategy and product activations
- Utilize statistical models and forecasting techniques to drive data-driven decision-making
- Support executional excellence by supporting with market intelligence in how to position, activate and optimize the product offer and activation of the product
- Analyze and align with Customer Activation SEO insights to support our assortment strategy in close collaboration with the Merchandising Managers
- Drive insights and support the assortment strategy for our digital marketplaces
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor product strategies, and emerging technologies to challenge current plans and maintain competitive advantage
Commercial and product insights and analysis :
Drive projects and build business cases for new product categories, sales channels and other business opportunities to support new sales and profit growthFollow up on our full store (omni, retail, digital) commercial initiatives and build strong cases for improvements in our discount strategy leveraging web analytics, customer insights, sales and cost dataSupport with business case and technical analysis (e.g., selling performance at different price points and price elasticity analysis) to enable best possible commercial decisionsFind opportunities and drive initiatives to increase our sales and profit by combining sales, customer and web analytics (customer behavior) connected to product activation
