A Day in the Life
Picture your morning : you review plans and wiring diagrams, load out the materials you prepped, and head to a residential or commercial jobsite in your company vehicle. You install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork to spec—running both low- and line-voltage wiring and making clean, code-compliant gas and refrigerant connections. By midday, you’re commissioning equipment : performing start-ups, testing, and tuning for peak performance and efficiency. You document your work, keep the site tidy, and walk the customer through operation and maintenance before wrapping up.
What You’ll Do
- Install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems (furnaces, A / C, heat pumps, ductwork) per manufacturer requirements and local codes.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specs to ensure precise installations.
- Complete electrical and mechanical tasks, including low- and line-voltage wiring and connecting gas / refrigerant lines.
- Perform start-ups, testing, and adjustments to optimize system performance and efficiency.
- Document labor, parts, and job details accurately; complete required paperwork.
- Survey job sites, stage materials, and maintain a safe, clean work area.
- Communicate clearly with customers about installation steps and basic system care.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development.
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma or GED.Proven experience as an HVAC installer or in a similar role.Valid state HVAC technician license (where applicable).EPA Section 608 Certification for refrigerant handling.Deep knowledge of installation methods, safety regulations, and building codes.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management.Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in tight spaces, and handle varying temperatures.Bonus Skills
NATE certification.Experience with smart HVAC or high-efficiency solutions.OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.Tools, Tech, and Systems
Hands-on with HVAC and HVAC / R systems, refrigeration systems, refrigerants, and the full spectrum of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Exposure to brand families such as Frick and Evapco .
