Duke Raleigh Hospital Outpatient Department - Cary- Hematology Oncology seeks to hire a Certified Medical Assistant who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.

Duke's Cary-based cancer center makes it easy for patients to receive high-quality cancer treatment in an outpatient center close to their home. Our team cares for men and women with different types of cancers, including breast cancer, colon cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, melanoma, prostate cancer, and kidney cancer. Appointments at this cancer center in Cary may include lab work, consultations with surgical oncologists, visits with medical oncologists, and treatments in our open infusion suite.

What you will do :

Clinical responsibilities :

• The CMA collects medical histories, monitors vital signs, explains treatments to patients, and prepares them for exams and procedures.
• Patient care support may include assisting medical staff, gathering and preparing lab samples, conducting basic lab tests, performing EKGs, removing sutures / staples, changing dressings, educating patients and families about care, and documenting in records.
• Additional tasks include disposing of contaminated supplies, processing instruments, cleaning medical equipment, calling in prescriptions, preparing and giving medications as instructed by the doctor, and handling prescription refills.
• Performs other clinical tasks as assigned by the doctor.
