About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : RN (Registered Nurse)

Specialty : Intensive Care Unit

Duration : 16 weeks

Shift : 12H Nights

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years

License : Required

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have : Ability to pass a skills exam during orientation

Description :

Unit operates with a nurse to patient ratio of 1 : 1 to 1 : 2 in the ICU and 1 : 4 in the PCU.

The unit serves adults and pediatric patients over 15 years old with a variety of diagnoses.

Common patient conditions include respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, and cardiogenic shock.

Nurses may handle patients requiring renal failure treatment and assist in general surgery.

Training for specific procedures and equipment will be provided in real-time as needed.

Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips including vasopressors and sedation.

A charge nurse is present on each shift and may take an assignment.

Patient care assistants are available with a ratio of 1 : 18.

Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is utilized.

Nurses will need to troubleshoot equipment as necessary.

Telemetry monitoring is centralized, and nurses must be able to read and interpret strips.

Schedule will be managed based on unit needs with some weekend and holiday requirements.

Floating to other inpatient units may be required, excluding specific units.

Dress code includes navy blue scrubs.

The unit is described as fast-paced with a collaborative team environment aimed at providing high-quality patient care.

Attributes for success include a willingness to ask questions, critical thinking skills, and a positive attitude.

Additional time off requests are limited and must be known upfront.

The facility retains the right to cancel shifts as necessary.
