Under the supervision of the Medic One Ambulance Leadership team the EMT is an integral part of the EMS team, providing support to the their partner and a superior transport experience to the communities we serve. The EMT will respond to emergent and nonemergent medical transports and are responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering basic life support, and transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. EMTs are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and making a significant impact on patient‘s lives. The role of the EMT demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.
The Role and Responsibilities of the EMT include :
Provide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of an EMTProvide safe transport of the patient and crewRespond to emergent and non-emergent transportsProvides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staffAbility operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tabletCompletion of patient contact reports prior to shift completionEnsure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readinessMaintain cleanliness of ambulanceMaintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEsRemain current on all state protocols, policies, and / or proceduresRepresent Medic One Ambulance at community events as assignedRequirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduation From High School or equivalentMust be at least 19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes.Current NREMT and State EMT (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)Valid driver’s licenseAbility to drive company vehicles with a clean driving recordSuccessful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 daysCurrent AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireAbility to provide quality patient care within scope of practiceKnowledge of all state protocols for an EMTAbility to lift 150 – 200 poundsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug testAbility to pass a pre-employment background checkAbility to speak and write EnglishPREFERRED SKILLS
