Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a  Cultural Resources Field Director  in California, in particular the Los Angeles Area or Central Valley / Coast locales. As a Field Director, under the direction of a Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing archaeological fieldwork for studies in support of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office, which currently includes : Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Please note, this position location is listed for the Greater Los Angeles / Central Coast , preferably,  but is also available at all the locations stated in this job description.

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities :

• Direct the fieldwork component of cultural resources projects
• Mentor field staff and provide guidance and leadership on field needs
• Operate as Rincon’s field representative upholding the values of the company, including fostering a safety-first culture
• Interface with clients, tribal consultants, and other contractors
• Manage post-processing of artifacts, paperwork, etc.
• Compliance with project conditions such as mitigation monitoring and reporting programs and conditions of approval
• Working with multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution
• Contribute to documents for CEQA and NEPA compliance, such as Environmental Impact Reports and Environmental Impact Statements
• Other duties as required by supervisor(s)

The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000–$95,000, plus a generous benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
