President at SBT | 19 years of advising leaders at semiconductor and deep tech companies | Architecting teams from startups to F500 organizations

SBT is the exclusive executive recruiting firm for this confidential position.

Overview :

A high-profile research and analysis company in the hardware technology ecosystem is preparing to launch its first venture fund. Backed by a trusted brand and an expansive network across semiconductor, datacenter / hyperscaler, cloud, and industrial markets, the firm has received interest from prospective limited partners and strategic investors. This fund will focus on investing at the intersection of semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and deep tech — areas where domain expertise and access are critical to identifying outsized opportunities.

Our client is seeking a proven investor to architect and lead the fund from inception : defining its structure, building the investment thesis, raising and organizing capital, and establishing a world-class reputation among founders and LPs.

This is a rare “white space” opportunity to build and lead a new venture platform with the backing of a strong brand with an established voice and network in one of the most strategically vital technology sectors of the coming decade.

Role Responsibilities :

Fund formation & strategy : Define the investment thesis, fund structure, governance model, and operating framework.

Capital raising : Lead fundraising efforts with institutional, strategic, and individual LPs, leveraging the parent organization’s network and relationships.

Deal sourcing & execution : Identify, evaluate, and execute investments across early-stage and growth-stage opportunities in semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and related technologies.

Team building : Recruit and mentor a small, high-impact investment team to scale deal flow, diligence, and portfolio management capabilities.

Portfolio management : Oversee portfolio strategy, board participation, follow-on investments, and value creation activities.

Ecosystem engagement : Represent the fund across the venture and startup ecosystem — deepening relationships with founders, co-investors, and strategic partners, and identifying new collaboration opportunities.

Governance & operations : Establish fund operations, compliance, and reporting frameworks to ensure institutional-grade rigor and transparency.

Required experience :

Partner-level experience at a leading venture capital or growth equity firm, with a proven record of sourcing, leading, and managing investments.

Demonstrated success raising capital from LPs and managing investor relations.

Strong domain knowledge and network in semiconductors, deep tech, AI / ML infrastructure, or related verticals.

Proven ability to build and scale investment platforms — from defining thesis to establishing processes, governance, and team.

Exceptional communication, credibility, and presence within the investor and founder community.

Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable operating in ambiguity, building from zero to one, and working hands-on to create a differentiated venture franchise.

Education :

Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. MBA or equivalent experience in venture capital, private equity, or technology leadership strongly valued.
