  • Special Education Paraprofessional Reports To : Principal Compensation : $32,000 - $36,000 Duration : 10 months Status : Non-Exempt Our School  Houston Classical Charter School (“Houston Classical”) was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020 beginning with kindergarten and first grade.

  • The Role Houston Classical is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to support our mission of providing all scholars, including those with diverse learning needs, with a rigorous, high-quality education.
  • In this role, you will work closely with Special Education teachers and general education staff to provide targeted academic and behavioral support to students with disabilities.
  • You’ll play an integral part in creating a learning environment where all scholars feel seen, supported, and set up for success.
  • Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Support Special Education teachers in delivering individualized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group academic support, both inside and outside the general education classroom.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans under the guidance of Special Education staff.
  • Assist in collecting and tracking student progress data, ensuring documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Help facilitate accommodations and modifications in the classroom to ensure full access to the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusive practices and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with families, helping keep them informed about student progress and needs.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as organizing student materials, copying instructional resources, and preparing modified assignments.
  • Supervise and support students during transitions, breakfast, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
  • Provide coverage for Special Education teachers when needed to ensure continuity of services.

Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma College degree preferred Passion for supporting students with disabilities and a belief in their potential to thrive in a rigorous academic environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible while working in a fast-paced, student-centered setting.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when working with sensitive student information.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
