BAKER JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY :
Staff of Life Natural Foods began as a whole grain bakery in 1969. Over the years we have developed many locally renowned breads and pastries. We have since grown to a full service natural foods market.
DUTIES :
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of baked goods including muffins, pastries, cookies, cakes, and breads including whole grain and gluten free options.
- Maintain proper sanitation procedures. Observe all health and safety rules. Maintain, operate and sanitize all baking machinery; Clean all areas and surfaces including cooler, freezer, and dry storage
- Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.
- Give every customer immediate and undivided attention. Surprise and delight the customers with consistent, delicious baked goods.
- Modify existing recipes to improve taste, appearance, and profitability. Modified items should be provided to owners for taste testing prior to sale
- Create new products and recipes that are appropriate for Staff of Life. Ensure that new recipes are able to be produced within required cost-of-goods parameters
- Taste test new recipes by providing owners with samples and costing out recipe prior to sale
- Utilize production logs and ensure that, on a daily basis, you accurately record each item you produce on a daily basis
- Utilize waste logs and ensure that, on a daily basis, you accurately record each item that is not sold and the reason that item was not sold (e.g. expired, marked down half off, thrown away, used to make another item such as bread pudding) -Order appropriate amount of ingredients to produce all bakery items while minimizing spoilage
- Monitor backstock for loss / theft and take immediate action by notifying owners if discovered
- Ensure that all recipes and baking procedures are followed accurately so that bakery products taste and appearance are consistent from day to day and from baker to baker
- Take and execute special orders and requests
- Answer the telephone and assists guests using proper phone etiquette
- Any and all other tasks as assigned by owners or store management
