We are looking for a Product / Chemical Engineer for a 5 month contract to hire opportunity in Akron OH

Product / Chemical Engineer 5-Month Contract to hire / extensions | Position is currently 100% onsite, with the potential for hybrid flexibility in the future | Akron OH

  • MUST HAVE LIQUID LATEX FORMULATING EXPERIENCE
  • MUST HAVE EXPOSURE TO TUBING DIP PROCESS

Job Summary

  • Responsible for new product development and technical support for supported team. These responsibilities include participation in / leadership of project teams pertaining to :
  • New product and process development
  • Planning and implementation
  • Manufacturing efficiency
  • Materials
  • evaluation / qualification

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in business meetings (representing the technical perspective) to evaluate and prioritize project opportunities
  • Complete the technical aspects of Product Engineering projects
  • Develop product according to customer requirements o Assist in the development of processes necessary to produce the product o Review product design and implementation for compliance with company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications (including Design Control)
  • Provide manufacturing support / projects including but not limited to :
  • Process Validation
  • LEAN initiatives
  • Qualification of new raw materials
  • Identification and resolution of problems related to current manufacturing processes and materials for both Akron and Malaysia
  • Write / maintain / review

  • controlled documents relating to :
  • Processing specifications
  • Purchased material specifications
  • BOP's, SOP's
  • Formula Cards
  • DMR's and design control documentation for Akron and Malaysia
  • Train employees on new or modified equipment, processes, procedures, and materials
  • Offer technical support for the following business functions :

  • Marketing : technical advice for new product applications o Customer Service : technical advice for resolving product use recommendations and customer complaints
  • QA : recommendations on product performance issues; develop test criteria for new product offerings
  • Monitor emerging materials, processes, and technologies o Excellent communication skills with both internal resources and customers
  • Perform laboratory testing on various pieces of analytical equipment

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with all stakeholders of any given project o Performs other duties as assigned

  • Job Qualifications Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in : Chemical Engineering, Chemistry (specialization in latex and rubber formulation), Operations, Related Science field
  • Required Experience

  • 5+ years of Product Engineering experience with a focus on polymers and natural rubber
  • ERP experience
  • Experience with formulation and processing of liquid latex and dry natural rubber such as : Extrusion, Rubber compounding, Internal mixing or thermoplastic processing, Casting, and dipping.
  • Experience with design control and design validation for medical devices is a plus
  • Other Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, interpret & generate product drawings and specifications
  • Project Management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Database software
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Displays original thinking and creativity
  • Offers unique, innovative approaches to problem solving
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Drives and delivers results
