About The Position

Description :

Facility has 457 licensed beds and is a Trauma Level III Teaching Hospital.

It is also a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence.

The facility offers X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.

Radiology Nursing support is available.

Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of the home unit.

The average number of patients per day is 30-40.

First-time travelers are accepted.

Common patient types include those with neuro deficits, stroke suspected, seizures, prostate cancer, diabetic foot, pancreatic cyst, and IBS / Crohn’s disease.

The department serves various patient populations including those from the Emergency Department, Inpatient units, and Outpatient facilities.

It provides care for a large population of medical device patients and performs cases with anesthesia as needed.

The department also provides cardiac and pediatric imaging with and without anesthesia.

Technologists will examine requests and verify orders for each patient.

Discrepancies in orders should be communicated to the Radiologist or the ordering provider.

Proper patient identification must be performed using two patient identifiers.

Technologists will assist patients while providing brief explanations of procedures.

A complete medical history will be gathered from the patients, reviewing EMRs for pertinent clinical history.

Technologists are responsible for exams from beginning to completion.

IV contrast will be prepared and administered according to departmental protocols.

The technical quality of images will be evaluated, and consultation with a Radiologist will occur as needed.

Basic patient care functions will be performed, and nursing personnel will be informed of any changes in the patient’s condition.

Life support measures will be initiated when necessary.

Invasive procedures will be performed according to infection control policies and procedures.

Support within the department includes guest services and transport for patients.

Services are available to assist with pediatric patients.

On overnight shifts, a tech assistant is available.

Technology includes EMR : Epic, RIS : Epic Clientnt, and PACS : Philips iSite.

Department-specific equipment includes GE 1.5 SIGNA Artist 450W and Siemens 3T Skyra.

Weekend rotation is required as needed, with no call expectations.

Travelers will work 75% of holidays.

Manager approval is required for RTO, with scheduling varying based on requisition.

Scrub color is black.
