Overview

Structural Engineer – Entry Level – Spring 2026. Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is a global leader in this field. We are actively looking for an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join our Walnut Creek office in Summer 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures
  • Perform finite element static and dynamic structural modelling of structures
  • Assist Senior Engineers with the preparation of design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Prepare design calculations and check calculations
  • Coordinate plan details with engineers and drafting technicians
  • Participate in inspection and rehabilitation of structures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis)
  • 1–4 years of experience including internship experience
  • Master's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (with 0–3 years of internship experience)
  • EIT registration preferred
  • Experience with MicroStation, Revit, or Civil 3D
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check per NIST 800-171
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. and to present required documentation at hire

    • Base Salary

    $40.00 to $46.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and qualifications. This range is applicable for candidates hired in California markets.

    Physical Requirements

    Office-based work with some site visits that may involve navigating uneven terrain while carrying equipment.
