We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for food management, ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. As a Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety, managing kitchen staff, and delivering exceptional hospitality.
Wandering Whistler Cafe is a board game cafe offering demo board games for guests to play while they enjoy food, coffee / tea, cocktails, and mocktails. Menu design is expected to lean towards small bites and sharables with core entrees focused on southern-style cooking. The ideal candidate can create an elevating experience for guests while conducting smooth operations in the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the kitchen team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all food preparation meets quality standards and adheres to safety regulations.
- Implement and maintain food safety protocols to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
- Organize and maintain a digital inventory utilizing Toast's Xtrachef inventory and recipe costing system and play an active role in managing food cost and waste.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food presentation, and best practices in hospitality.
- Conduct interviews and participate in the hiring process for new kitchen staff members.
- Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure seamless service delivery during peak hours.
- Develop menus that reflect seasonal ingredients while considering customer preferences and dietary restrictions.
Qualifications
Proven experience in kitchen management or restaurant management roles.Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food management.Experience in shift management, ensuring that all shifts are adequately staffed and operational needs are met.Excellent communication skills with a focus on hospitality and customer service.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.Previous experience with bar operations is a plus but not required.Experience with Southern-Style cooking using a smoker is preferred.If you are passionate about culinary excellence and have the leadership qualities necessary to drive a successful kitchen team, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity as our Kitchen Manager!
