Department : DOC-Elayn Hunt Correctional Center

Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is the primary Reception Center for adult male prisoners and is the primary mental health unit for the Department of Corrections. The incumbent performs daily administrative assignments of confidential nature with a working knowledge of DOC rules and regulation, state and federal laws, and institutional policies and procedures which relate to the overall function and operation of the assigned department at this facility.

Minimum Qualifications :

Three years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION :

Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties :

  • Gather and compose information on special assignments and reports.
  • Accumulate information for reply to requests by telephone and / or written material.
  • Compose letters of reply and @types correspondence.
  • Types and performs clerical duties for the division as required.
  • Operate computer terminals relating to data entry, inquiry, and reports.
  • Organizes confidential files and materials. Maintain a filing system for all facets of the Division. Sorts and distributes mail, organizing inter-institutional correspondence, reviewing to determine correspondence requiring immediate attention or responses in a timely fashion through regular processing.
  • Position-Specific Details :

    Appointment Type : PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

    Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.

    An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

    This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
