SUMMARY : Performs duties of a Code Compliance Officer within the Code Compliance Department, reporting to the Deputy Code Compliance Director. The purpose of this position is the overall investigation, compliance, enforcement, and education of all regulations and ordinances governing land use, building, zoning, signs, and related issues. This position will include both office and field responsibilities in the investigation of complaints and enforcement of the regulations and ordinances during both typical business hours and atypical business hours, including evening, nights, weekend shift work, and some peak season holidays, to include shift rotations as directed. Work is routinely performed independently and requires regular use of technical judgement and discretion in determining compliance and enforcement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Supervision of other city employees is not required of this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience : High School Diploma and two (2) years of work experience focused on general investigative, regulatory compliance, and enforcement work; or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience related to regulatory compliance and enforcement and provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position.

Licenses Or Certifications

Must be FACE (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) certified Level I, or be able to become certified within 1 year in the position. Parking Enforcement Specialist (for civilians) certification.

Special Requirements

Valid Florida Driver's License.
