American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Lafayette, Indiana.

Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position with at least 18 months of recent experience and an IN or compact RN license in hand.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a short-term acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes medical, orthopedic, GYN, urology, neurosurgery, total joint replacement, trauma, and post-surgical cases
  • Care for a wide range of diagnoses including COPD, pneumonia, UTI, cellulitis, COVID, and small bowel obstruction
  • Procedures and treatments include IV starts, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tubes, and the management of dysrhythmias
  • Hospital uses Cerner EMR and experience is required
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours), 18 : 00–06 : 30
  • Floating within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals is required
  • Responsible for care of a diverse Med / Surg patient population, including pre- and post-surgical cases and trauma
  • Must work two out of three major holidays with limited RTO (5 days or less auto-approved)
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Free parking is available on site
  • Scrub color or dress code not specified

  • Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of application; pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum of 18 months of current Med / Surg RN experience required
  • Current AHA or RQI BLS certification required; NIHSS and ACLS preferred
  • Graduation from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • Ability to start IVs and manage post-neuro surgery and orthopedic trauma patients
  • Experience with Cerner EMR required
  • Former perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month separation before applying
  • Local candidates are not accepted for this position
