Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med / Surg Tele position requiring IL RN licensure and strong neuro and tele experience.
Responsibilities
Position is located in a 22-bed Neuro Med / Surg Telemetry unit of a hospitalPatient population includes neuro and neuro-surgical cases such as CVAs, elective back / neck surgeries, and cerebral angiograms, as well as general medical overflowNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 with charge nurses also carrying assignments12-hour day shifts are requiredPotential to float to the medical unitNo on-call or call-back requirementsRequired to work every other weekend and every other holidayEPIC EMR experience is requiredDuties include strong neuro assessments, tele monitoring, and managing both neuro-surgical and general medical patientsStrict adherence to documentation, patient safety, and evidence-based practices is expectedScrub color requirement is navy blueTeam includes charge nurses with patient assignments and requires collaborative, resilient, and socially skilled staffHoliday and weekend coverage is mandatory on a rotational basisCOVID-19 vaccine is not currently required but is subject to changeFirst time travelers are not eligible for this positionRequirements
Active IL RN license requiredCurrent AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are requiredMinimum two years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience and one travel assignment requiredNeuro experience is requiredRecent EPIC charting experience is requiredMust be comfortable with neuro assessments, dysphagia screening, and basic tele interpretationProficiency in performing strict I's and O's, straight cath, Foley care, blood / blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures, NG tube placement, indwelling drain management, and titrating certain dripsAbility to independently initiate and titrate heparin and other stable gttsMust be able to work hard, adapt to change, and collaborate effectivelyCandidates must reside outside of a 40-mile radius from the facilityBenefits
