Responsibilities
This role involves making and testing lab batches for the adhesive product line. Preparation, testing, and evaluation are performed against internal standards and / or automotive customer specifications. Data is documented in an electronic lab notebook and may be issued as a formal report. Organization of data and test work is essential. The candidate must be able to work with changing priorities and adhere to timelines. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Co-develop new products according to customer needs, specifications, and business strategy.
- Make adhesive batches, conduct lab tests on paste and cured adhesives, organize and prepare substrates, collect and document data.
- Work in teams to scale up products according to established procedures and process capabilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to learn best lab practices, build competency, and work independently, safely, and efficiently.
- Ensure product quality and performance meet customer requirements by staying current on customer performance standards.
- Follow and promote environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Evaluate new materials or components as needed.
- Maintain lab equipment as the ERP (Equipment Responsible Person).
- Conduct experiments with high quality, analyze data, and interpret results.
Essential Functions
Prepare intermediates and adhesive batches.Lift and move pails weighing up to 50 lbs.Weigh raw materials and charge them into mixers.Scrape mixer bowls, remove adhesives, and clean mixers.Transfer and package samples into containers and condition environments.Characterize and test adhesives, including liquid property testing (viscosity, rheology, sag panels).Apply adhesives to substrates using manual or automatic caulking guns.Perform various mechanical property tests.Lab Preparation and Documentation
Manage inventory, order, organize, and distribute materials regularly.Keep lab benches clean, dispose of materials properly, and replenish supplies from storage.Calibrate or verify equipment daily and record results.Use the Electronic Lab Notebook to document plans, work, and data daily.Conduct and document health and safety audits.Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in a STEM field preferred.No PhD or master’s degree candidates .Previous laboratory experience in an industrial or R&D environment required.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe and efficient work practices.Self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced environment, eager to learn new skills, and able to effectively prioritize and plan responsibilities.Good teamwork and interpersonal skills; enjoys working with a diverse team.Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.Comfortable entering and analyzing data in Excel or similar software, with the ability to recognize abnormal data.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Able to regularly lift and / or move up to 10 lbs, and frequently up to 40 lbs.Knowledge or experience with polymers is preferred but not required.www.onboardusa.com
