Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically adept Contract Technical Writer to support documentation efforts within our 3D printing process engineering team. This role will focus on creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, IOQ Protocols, and Reports in a medical device manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on the production floor, collaborating with subject matter experts, and using existing templates and tools to produce high-quality, compliant documentation.
Role expectations
- Create, revise, and format Work Instructions using existing templates and process observations.
- Develop and maintain Installation, Operational, and Qualification (IOQ) protocols and reports.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to capture workflows and translate them into clear, actionable documents.
- Ensure documentation complies with medical device regulatory standards and internal quality systems.
- Use tools such as Microsoft Word, Copilot AI tools, and Arena PLM for document creation and management.
- Conduct interviews and observe processes on the floor to gather accurate technical information.
- Maintain version control and ensure documents are properly stored and accessible in the document management system.
What we're looking for
Required :
Strong technical writing skills with attention to detail and clarity.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with AI tools like Copilot.Experience with document management systems, preferably Arena.Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Willingness to spend time on the production floor to observe and document processes.Preferred :
Prior experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated environments.Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and process engineering concepts.Understanding of regulatory standards such as ISO 13485, FDA QSR, or similar.Additional Information :
Templates and style guides will be provided.Candidate will be responsible for managing document versions and updates.This is an on-site role requiring close collaboration with engineering and operations teams.Pay Transparency
If provided, base salary or wage rate ranges are the range in which Align reasonably expects to set a candidate’s pay for the posted position. Actual placement depends on the individual skills and experience level of a candidate plus the total compensation and equity across team members. For other locations outside of the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically.
For Field Sales roles, the salary listed is the base pay only and does not include the applicable incentive compensation plan. A cost of living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher cost areas in the U.S.
Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.
