Senior Data Scientist - Veterans Evaluation Services

Maximus is currently hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join our Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) team. This is a remote opportunity. The position is responsible for leading advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making initiatives across the organization. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data engineering to solve complex business problems and drive strategic outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence key stakeholders through actionable insights and predictive modeling. This role focuses on advanced dashboard design (Qlik), data science projects, and data analysis projects. The key programming languages are SQL and Python. The role reports to the Director of Data and Analytics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with huge data sets.
• Apply data mining, NLP, and machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised) to improve relevance and personalization algorithms.
• Work side-by-side with product managers, software engineers, and designers in designing experiments and minimum viable products.
• Discover data sources, get access to them, import them, clean them up, and make them "model-ready."
• Create and refine features from the underlying data.
• Run regular A / B tests, gather data, perform statistical analysis, draw conclusions on the impact of your optimizations and communicate results to peers and leaders.
• Explore new design or technology shifts in order to determine how they might connect with the customer benefits we wish to deliver.
• This role focuses on advanced dashboard design (Qlik), data science projects, and data analysis projects. The key programming languages are SQL and Python. The role reports to the Director of Data and Analytics.
• Advanced, succinct dashboard design and storytelling experience is required
• Machine learning experience in text and trend modeling is required
• 3+ years of advanced SQL development experience is required
• Ad hoc data analysis and data presentation experience is required
• Experience in clear explanation (verbal and electronic) of complex topics and clarity in analytics presentation is required

Please note upon hire, Veteran Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus Co. will provide all necessary computer equipment that is to be utilized to fulfil the duties of your role. New hires will not be exempt from using company provided equipment.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
