Position : Senior / Lead VFX Artist

Location : Remote

This is a startup opportunity seeking a founder-level contributor. It is initially unpaid with potential for equity and / or profit sharing depending on investment / funding and project needs.

We’re developing an exciting new fantasy / sci-fi IP and genre-defying game, blending fast-paced multiplayer action / combat with familiar MMORPG mechanics. Our broader mission is to push genre boundaries, create immersive experiences, and share success with our developers while maintaining work / life balance.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Senior or Lead VFX Artist to join our team and shape the visual effects of our game. As the Lead or Senior VFX Artist, you will oversee and execute a wide range of visual effects that bring combat and magical environments to life.

Responsibilities

• Mentor or lead and manage the VFX team, providing direction, guidance, and feedback.
• Collaborate with the Art Director and other leads to ensure high-quality, consistent VFX.
• Create and implement VFX assets for spell casting, including magical explosions, fire, smoke, and other mystical effects.
• Work with shaders and materials to achieve desired effects.
• Optimize VFX assets for performance while maintaining artistic integrity.
• Contribute to visual style guides and ensure VFX adhere to them.
• Contribute ideas and solutions to artistic challenges and stay updated on industry trends.
