The Demand Planner will partner with Customer Care, Sales, Product Management and Operations management to determine appropriate production schedules that best meet customer and sales demand. This position also serves at the subject matter expert on how to best utilize the Oracle MRP to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the production schedule.
The Demand Planner considers many factors such as raw material availability, production line capacity, and standard lead times promised to customers, on time delivery, and emergent needs of the business both from a sales operations and production operations perspective. The Demand Planner is the direct interface to the sales function that translates the Sales, Inventory, Operations, and Production (SIOP) forecast input into a production operations schedule for factory planning purposes. They also work directly with the Buyers to decide how much inventory to keep on hand that maximizes just in time material flow, limits factory changeovers and inefficiencies.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for complex fulfillment and production plansParticipate in system or process improvement initiatives to ensure the function has the best toolsReview and revise production and fulfillment plans as required by changes in the manufacturing schedulesAct as a liaison between Manufacturing, Customer Care, Sales and Product Management, communicating and troubleshooting issues, problems, and concernsAnalyzes production plans and inventory reports, availability / requirements for long lead time items to provide production guidance to the manufacturing sites.Assist in the expediting finished goods, when necessary, to support customer order fulfillmentRecommend and implement production and transportation actions when products are in out-of-stock or allocation situations.Partners with management / departments on matters related to production or fulfillment planning.Utilize Oracle to view material movements, quantities on order, and the current balance on hand to ensure materials needed by the manufacturing plants are available and use this information to analyze trends and plan for future orders.Must maintain a well-balanced focus between external and internal customer requirements and possesses.
