A mission-driven, multi-site organization is seeking a compassionate and visionary Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead clinical strategy and operations. This executive-level position blends clinical practice with administrative leadership, offering the opportunity to help shape healthcare delivery for underserved populations across Central Massachusetts.
The CMO will split responsibilities between clinical care (60%) and administrative leadership (40%) , ensuring high-quality, accessible care while fostering a culture of clinical excellence.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
🩺 Clinical Leadership
Deliver direct patient care to a small panelSupervise medical staff including physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical directorsGuide recruitment, credentialing, and provider onboardingEstablish clinical protocols, productivity benchmarks, and performance goals⚙️ Organizational & Strategic Oversight
Serve as a member of the executive leadership teamLead integration of medical services with behavioral health, dental, substance use, and support programsSupport participation in value-based care models and Medicaid ACO partnershipsContribute to strategic planning, grant proposals, and service expansion✅ Quality & Safety
Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiativesChair clinical quality committees and participate in accreditation readinessEnsure adherence to evidence-based standards and continuing medical education🤝 Governance & Community Representation
Report quarterly to the Board of Directors on clinical outcomes and operationsRepresent the organization within community-based health collaborativesEngage in outreach efforts and public health initiatives💼 People & Performance Management
Conduct evaluations for all clinical staffDevelop and oversee training programs, privileging criteria, and staffing modelsMonitor clinical productivity and support provider well-being🎓 Qualifications
Medical Degree (MD or DO) in Family Medicine or Med / PedsBoard Certified and licensed (or eligible) in MassachusettsCurrent DEA and Controlled Substance LicensesACLS or CPR / AED certificationMinimum 5 years’ clinical experience with diverse patient populations📋 Supervisory Scope
