Job Description

Job Description

Are you an experienced scientist or ambitious early-career innovator looking to make a difference in the fight against cancer?

Oncodea is seeking a curious and creative Assay Developer to help us advance our mission of making early cancer detection accessible and affordable for everyone. Join a team dedicated to building the next generation of blood-based diagnostics—where your work will directly impact lives.

As an Assay Developer at Oncodea, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our founders and leadership team, who are pioneers in bioinformatics, molecular diagnostics, and clinical assay development. Your work will be central to designing, optimizing, and validating assays that enable rapid, accurate detection of cancer at its earliest stages.

We recognize that no one candidate will have every skill listed below. If you have a passion for learning and a drive to solve meaningful problems, we want to meet you.

What You Will Do

Design, optimize, and validate innovative assays for clinical and research applications

Develop and refine workflows for nucleic acid extraction, PCR and molecular fingerprinting from human biospecimens

Lead experimental planning and execution, leveraging cutting-edge molecular biology techniques and automation tools

Analyze and interpret experimental data; develop custom scripts (R / Python) to automate data analysis and visualization

Draft and maintain SOPs, technical reports, and documentation for regulatory submissions (e.g., FDA PMA, CLIA / CAP)

Collaborate with bioinformatics, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure robust assay performance and compliance with industry standards

Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, and patent applications

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in assay development, and laboratory automation

What You Must Bring

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, pathology, molecular diagnostics, or related field

Experience developing and validating assays in a research or clinical laboratory environment (industry or academic)

Hands-on expertise with assay developing platforms, PCR, and molecular assay troubleshooting

Proficiency with R and / or Python for data analysis and pipeline development

Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, CLIA, ISO) for diagnostics

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team

Exceptional communication skills, including experience with technical documentation and scientific reporting

What You Might Have

Experience with laboratory automation (liquid handlers, high-throughput systems)

Familiarity with risk-based approaches to assay validation and quality management systems (CLSI, ISO)

Knowledge of cloud-based data analysis and workflow management (AWS, GCP)

Experience mentoring or training junior staff

Previous involvement in successful regulatory submissions (e.g., PMA, 510(k))

Military service or other diverse professional backgrounds—Oncodea values your unique experiences!

The Bottom Line

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and credentials

Generous PTO, paid holidays, and 100% healthcare benefits

Flexible work arrangements and abundant opportunities for professional growth

A chance to work at the cutting edge of molecular diagnostics alongside a mission-driven team

If you have a curious mind, scientific rigor, and a deep desire to make a difference, we encourage you to apply. Join us in the fight against cancer—and help make early detection a reality for all.

To apply : Please send your resume and a brief note describing why you’re excited to join our mission
