Janitorial Worker
Join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining cleanliness and aseptic conditions in the labor and delivery areas. Your role is essential in ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, nurses, and other staff members.
Responsibilities :
- Clean rooms throughout the night in the labor and delivery areas, interacting and working closely with nurses.
- Maintain clean and aseptic conditions by vacuuming, scouring, dust mopping, high dusting, making beds, removing trash / linen, and washing walls and ceilings.
- Utilize vacuum and cleaning materials effectively in daily tasks.
- Assist with daily spot cleaning, including dust mopping, pulling trash, cleaning bathrooms, and sanitizing high-touch areas.
- Perform discharge cleaning, which includes deep cleaning floors, walls, bathrooms, and wiping down furniture.
- Clean patient rooms with patients present, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle difficult interactions.
- Use detergents and germicides according to recommended handling and mixing procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized station, cart, closet, and equipment.
- Report equipment repair needs to the supervisor.
- Log activities throughout the work shift and complete required paperwork at the end of the shift.
- Collect soiled linen or distribute clean linen.
- Operate equipment such as mops, computers, supply carts, detergents, brooms, vacuums, telephones, pagers, and hand sweepers.

You will work throughout the hospital and may encounter hazards such as chemicals, slippery floors, and step ladders. The environment may include dust, odors, bodily fluids, and aerosol sprays. Shifts are from 7 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 11 : 30 p.m., with work required every other weekend. The team is diverse, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, allowing you to work independently while being part of a supportive group.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newton, Iowa.
Pay and Benefits :
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00 / hr.
