GENERAL JOB STATEMENT : Build and install scenery for all shows using a variety of methods and materials.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Read, interpret, and build from construction drawings as assigned by Technical Director or Assistant Technical Director.
- Interpret and build from sketches, photos, video, or other media as assigned by Technical Director.
- Measuring, cutting, and fabrication of wooden components for construction.
- Operation of the all of the following equipment : table saw, chop saw, circular saw, jig saw, router, drills and drill presses, orbital and bench sanders / grinders, pneumatic tools, a wide variety of hand tools and layout tools.
- Participate in scenic transfers to and from warehouses, theatres, and rehearsal halls as needed.
- Participation in all show load-ins and load-outs as well as morning notes sessions during tech as assigned by Technical Director.
- Repair scenery as directed during show run.
- Work in a safe, efficient, and organized manner.
- Any other tasks as requested by the Scene Shop Foreman, Technical Director, or PM.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :
Minimum 3 years’ experience in carpentry.Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent professional experience.Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.Knowledge of industry-standard safe rigging practices.Knowledge of forces and load distribution.Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative manner.#J-18808-Ljbffr
