Minimum Guarantee of $21.50 / hour : At the end of the pay period, if your base wage ($16.50 / hour + $2 / hour additional for any time after 10pm) and tips have not averaged to at least $21.50 / hour, we will pay the rest. You are guaranteed to earn at least $21.50 / hour, but you can earn more than that! Most Department Managers average $21.50-$24.50 / hour. Tips are paid at the end of each shift, and all other wages are paid on your paycheck (biweekly). As the Bar Manager, your main job is to ensure the successful and efficient operation of your department! You assist the GM and AGM(s) in ensuring the tools and procedures are in place and used by all department staff for successful operations. Training the general staff in your department and doing their reviews will also be a large part of your role! You will be expected to provide input on staffing, staff performance, and scheduling.
Additionally, the bar manager will be responsible for product ordering and maintenance, a basic knowledge of craft beers and liquor. Must have a good understanding of drinks, understanding of how to craft original cocktails is a bonus but not required!
While Managers are heavily involved in the operations of their department, they also have some administrative duties, including staff and management meetings, responding to staff messages, working on projects as assigned / approved by the GM or AGM(s), etc.
Bar Manager Requirements
1+ years of experience as a Supervisor or Shift Leader in the food and beverage industry.2+ years of bar-specific experience as a bartender, bar lead, bar trainer, or bar manager.Must have a valid Operator's License (bartending license) or able to renew or get license upon hire.Cross-trained and regularly able to perform all general staff positions within the restaurant and bar (Front of House, Kitchen, and Shift Lead) within 6 months.Embrace and embody the 2030 Vision, Company Values, Ian's Standards for Customer Service, Food Quality, and the Big Five Code of Conduct (Awareness, Connection, Generosity, Dependability, Effort).Able to motivate others to always put in their best effort, and hold all staff accountable to high standards of food quality, customer service, and cleanliness.Exercise good judgment, problem-solving, and initiative to get things done and plan ahead.Maintain a good attitude, high levels of awareness, and direct, kind communication, especially in situations that require quick action.Able to keep organized, set priorities and meet deadlines.Must complete a food safety certification course within 6 months.Ability to stand and walk for long periods. Bilingual in Spanish is a major plus!Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant for a variety of shift times, including mornings, afternoons, and nights.Must be 18 years of age or older to apply. This position is hourly, with an expectation of working 35-40 hours per week, consisting of 30-35 hours in Operations and 5-10 hours in Administrative work. Any work above 40 hours a week is paid as overtime. Your schedule is posted 2-4 weeks at a time, depending on location.
The Bar Manager forms part of the Department Manager team, which also includes a Front of House Manager, Kitchen Manager, and Delivery Manager. All Department Managers are expected to work weekly Manager on Duty shifts that span the operations of the bar and restaurant.
Weekend and evening availability is required! We're planning to be open for lunch and dinner daily. As a leader in the restaurant, you will work with the leadership team to be available for emergencies and help find coverage or cover shifts in your department as needed.
