Department Details
Sanford Family Birth Center is a 52-bed unit with a 4-bed triage area and additional overflow capabilities to accommodate a fluctuating census. This unit cares for patients who are antepartum, during labor and delivery, and post partum.
There are 2 operating rooms and a recovery room on the floor. The OR suites are staffed by Family Birth Center and Surgical Technologists. All rooms are equipped with an emergency call system to the NICU. Labor nurses are trained to circulate in the OR and PACU to maximize continuity of care.
The patient population includes high and low-risk antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum women as well as their newborns.

Responsibilities
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and / or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
