Our Maintenance Technicians are eligible to participate in our laddering program in which you advance to a level II, III, or Equipment Operator with corresponding pay increases through years of service and obtaining job-specific certifications.

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll receive on-the-job training that will help you acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities that will serve you well both on and off the job. Our Facilities Division provides you an opportunity to provide top-notch facilities to our public, while also learning to be handy! In our Facilities Division you'll learn :

• Dry wall patching
• Painting
• Plumbing and electrical
• Roofing
• Carpentry
• Proper equipment and tool operation
• HVAC troubleshooting

This position performs a wide variety of manual, semi-skilled and skilled tasks required to perform maintenance and repair tasks of City-owned facilities and infrastructure. Depending on the area of assignment, the employee would need some acquired skills in the use of hand tools and power tools to perform a variety of tasks. The incumbent may also operate a variety of equipment requiring skill and manual dexterity such as, but not exclusive, street sweepers, small bulldozers, front-end loaders, dump, roll-off, claw, or crane trucks.

The City offers paid time off a maximum of 26 hours to eligible part-time employees. Discount cards, special offers, and promotions are available to all employees for area attractions and retail businesses. All regular full-time and part-time City employees, regardless of their permanent residence, are eligible to obtain a City of Parkland Library card while they remain an employee. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to assist with a broad range of problems including family and marital discord, nervous or emotional disorders, drug or alcohol abuse, poor physical health, and other personal problems. The EAP is available to all regular full-time employees, their spouses, and dependents. Participation and all records will be handled in a strictly confidential manner. There is no cost for employees to consult with an EAP counselor.
