Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We’re seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join a maintenance team supporting multiple yard locations. This role is all about keeping operations running—diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and productive.

What You’ll Do

Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on :

Hydraulic systems and power units

Excavators, loaders, backhoes, and material handlers

Balers, shears, shredders, and other processing machinery

Air systems, motors, and electrical components

Skid steers, forklifts, and related equipment

Handle preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend machine life.

Respond quickly to breakdowns and perform on-site repairs.

Accurately track service logs, work orders, and equipment history.

Partner with the Maintenance Manager and technicians to coordinate repairs and share expertise.

Assist with inventory, sourcing repair parts, and working with vendors when needed.

What We’re Looking For

2+ years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience (construction or industrial setting preferred).

Strong background in hydraulics, diesel engines, mechanical troubleshooting, and diagnostics.

Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.

Welding / fabrication skills are a plus.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.

Safety-first mindset and ability to work independently or in a team.

Experience with CMMS systems preferred.
