Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Neuro position in Illinois, requiring Trauma Level 1 and Epic experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital-based Neuro Med / Surg unit
  • Day shifts from 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 30 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Care for patients with mild to severe brain injuries due to stroke, trauma, or surgery
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • EPIC EMR system is used on the unit
  • Provide comprehensive care for neuro Med / Surg patients including assessment, plan of care development, and timely intervention for neurological changes
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members and participate in patient care coordination
  • Perform detailed documentation, hourly rounding, admission / discharge processes, patient and family education, and safety protocol adherence
  • Complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and delegate tasks as appropriate
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented and patient-centered work environment
  • Compliance with departmental competencies and unit standards is required
  • Requests for time off during the contract may not exceed 7 days
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
  • Travelers may not work more than one year continuously at the facility without converting or taking a six-month break before returning

  • Active Illinois RN license, temp license accepted
  • Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience required
  • Associate’s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Documented Level 1 Trauma unit experience required
  • Demonstrated experience with EPIC charting required
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
