Substation Job Planner – Long-Term Contract ($41 / hr)
Pay : $41 / hour
Location : Hybrid – travel within client’s service area required
Type : Long-term contract (with possible extension or direct hire; benefits available)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Substation Job Planner to join our client’s team on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all phases of the job planning process for substation maintenance, repair, and capital improvement projects. You’ll work closely with engineers, substation electric maintenance journeymen (EMJs), apprentices, riggers / ironworkers, and project managers to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
What You’ll Do
Plan and coordinate substation maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
Ensure proper materials, tools, and equipment are available and delivered to job sites.
Interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to verify work packages and materials are accurate.
Conduct site visits to substations, warehouses, and repair sites to assess project and material needs.
Support project teams in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and determining best approaches to protect and maintain substation equipment.
Collaborate with multiple stakeholders while adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
Education / Experience :
Associate’s degree or Technical Diploma in engineering plus 3–5 years of related experience; OR
High School diploma / GED with 3+ years of relevant experience, including electrical maintenance journeyman or substation operator work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematic drawings.
Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
Advanced problem-solving and analytical ability.
Proficiency with project management and work planning software such as MAXIMO, SAP, PRIMAVERA, and Microsoft Office.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly within the service area.
Preferred Skills
Previous substation experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge of engineering operations within electrical distribution systems.
Familiarity with CAD, technical illustration, and data management tools.
