Broadcast Engineer (1 year contract)

Grass Valley is looking for an experienced Video / Broadcast Engineer to work embedded at one of our major global broadcast customers.

This position will report on a day-to-day basis to the Engineering department of our customer, whose identity will be disclosed during the interview process.

Primary Responsibilities This position is responsible for Research, Design, Documentation, Installation, Commissioning and Test of virtualized compressed IP-based video origination and distribution systems, along with related sub-systems for linear and streaming delivery via satellite and terrestrial fiber.

Responsible for end-to-end fulfillment of assigned projects and tasks, including installation, configuration and commissioning of video equipment and software applications.  Coordinates in-house and third-party resources to fulfill system integration tasks for documentation, fabrication and installation.

Collaborates with in-house technical support teams to perform system acceptance testing and training.    Basic Qualifications The candidate must possess the following knowledge, experience, and talents :

• Experience in the design, build, and commissioning of technical systems for broadcast playout, distribution, and live streaming via IP.
• Knowledge of baseband HD / SD video, compressed video / audio encoding, IP transport stream distribution, in-band and out-of-band metadata payloads, OTT streaming architecture, and IP networking principles including multicast.
• Proven ability to test and qualify compressed video transport streams and compression technologies at the packet level, including MPEG-4 H.264, HEVC H.265, MPEG-2 and JPEG-2000.
