Nexstar Broadcasting is hiring : Assignment / Digital Editor in Lexington

Our Assignment Editor will help establish relationships to connect us to the Bluegrass area. Our Assignment Editor will also help lead our new streaming channel inside a digital-first newsroom. Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

Helps find relevant, compelling news content for digital and linear platforms

Decides daily broadcast and digital content, assign crews & manages field crews’ workflow and live logistics throughout day

Helps schedule and manage content on the FOX 56 streaming channel

Manages a content calendar for the streaming channel and tracks content projects

Works with reporters, photographers, producers to determine story selection, elements and backup ideas

Keeps team informed of developments throughout day

Posts digital content, as needed

Listens to scanners, answers phones and emails, researches and vets pitches to determine what makes a great story

Coordinates live shots and content sharing with affiliates

Represents and enforces station policy in resolution of situations that may arise

Maintains various station accounts used by the desk for gathering and confirmation information

Be involved in long-term planning of stories and news events

Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills :

Bachelor’s degree in journalism is preferred; market knowledge is preferred

Fluency in English

Extensive knowledge of editorial standards, ethics and media law

Ability to lead and manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines

Have superior organizational skills; be an effective communicator, both oral and written

Be nimble with technology, have thorough knowledge of newsroom & field workflow

Demonstrate excellent leadership and motivational skills

Must be able to manage under extreme pressure in a fast-paced environment

Be able to operate as a team member as well as a team leader

Able to take suggestions, participate in decision-making, and be flexible in recognizing various points of view

Interact productively with other employees of the station
