Responsibilities

As a customer-focused technical product expert, technicians apply highly developed troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical skills, and knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic control systems to install new packaging machinery equipment. Additional tasks include preventive maintenance and on-site equipment repair.

  • Travel 80% (Mon–Fri) away from home visiting food plants primarily in the Southwestern USA; may travel beyond the Southwest as required. After training travel will reduce to 60–70% (Mon–Fri).
  • Read diagrams, schematic drawings, engineering specifications and service manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Engage with customers on site, analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot to isolate problems, and determine actions needed to restore system to performance specifications.
  • Share information with team members, customers, and your supervisor to prioritize and keep customers apprised of corrective actions and equipment status.
  • Inform customers of routine preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Participate in projects to install or improve the safety and performance of existing and new equipment.
  • Qualifications

  • Four plus years of maintenance experience — servicing, troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical automated machinery.
  • Preference for maintenance, installation, service and diagnosing issues on food processing and packaging machinery.
  • Practical application of mechanical and electrical engineering principles to ensure equipment performance at manufacturer specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power systems, conveyor systems, or control systems.
  • Initiative, critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgment and decision making, persistence, attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, concern for others, and leadership.
  • 80% travel during training; 60–70% travel after training.
  • Food Processing or Packaging Machinery experience is desired.
  • Bilingual English–Spanish skills are a bonus.
