About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 3 years in Cardiovascular ICU care setting; strong open heart surgery recovery experience required.
License : Valid RN State License
Certifications : BLS, ACLS
Must-Have : Experience with Mechanical Circulatory Support (Impella, IABP, ECMO, durable LVAD).
Description :
The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies / procedures.
Responsibilities include :
Utilizing the nursing process to care for patients.
Assessing, organizing, and completing patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
Documenting steps of the nursing process.
Utilizing proper medical terminology.
Addressing problems and progress toward goals.
Facilitating patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural / psychosocial factors.
Collaborating with other disciplines as appropriate.
Supporting unit / hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities.
Making independent judgments from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Coordinating activities of others without supervising.
Leading others in the same work performed without supervision.
Providing input on performance evaluations but not preparing or giving them.
Working directly with patients and / or customers.
Working with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Working with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Working with other healthcare professionals and staff.
Interacting frequently with individuals at the Director level or above.
Skills required include effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
Ability to be detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
Knowledge of general disease state management processes, the bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways is preferred.
Assessment skills related to hemodynamic monitoring and critical care, including intake and output, vital signs, hemodynamics, and attention to detail related to infection prevention metrics and quality metrics are essential.
The multidisciplinary team includes nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical / occupational therapy, lab services, and case management.
Education :
Completion of the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing.
Required certifications must include a valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License.
