Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations.

Summary :

Family Service is seeking a full-time passionate and dynamic Instructor to deliver evidence-based substance use prevention, social-emotional learning programs for adolescents, and parenting education programming. The Instructor will facilitate engaging lessons in middle schools, high schools, and family shelter settings across Suffolk County.

Monday – Friday, 9 : 00AM – 5 : 00PM

Responsibilities :

The Instructor will plan, coordinate, and facilitate substance use prevention and character-building programs in middle schools, high schools, and other youth-centered settings.

Complete training in evidence-based educational programs and deliver curriculum-based lessons in diverse school environments.

Design and present community education sessions on substance use prevention and healthy decision-making.

Represent the program at health fairs, community events, and outreach activities.

The Instructor will maintain accurate records, including program data entry, reporting, and evaluation metrics.

Collaborate with school staff, community partners, and program team members to ensure effective implementation.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support program goals.

Qualifications :

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred .

Minimum of two years’ experience conducting presentations to children and adults required.

Extensive knowledge of illicit and abused substances.

Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related computer applications required.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to travel independently to schools and community locations; must have reliable transportation.

Ability to stand, walk, and move between classrooms or event spaces for extended periods.

Ability to lift, carry, and distribute program materials such as packets and workbooks.

Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills to effectively deliver presentations in classroom and community settings.

Comfortable working in a variety of environments (e.g., schools, community centers, family shelters, community events).
