Sanitation Truck Operator I

The Town of Lake Park seeks a Sanitation Truck Operator I to join our Public Works Department Sanitation Division. Under the supervision of the Sanitation Foreman, the Sanitation Truck Operator I is responsible for the safe and effective operation of various residential sanitation collection vehicles. These include but are not limited to, side and rear-load garbage packers and trash trucks with an attached grapple boom. Operators are expected to ensure efficient waste collection services and maintain operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities :

• Operate equipment for curbside garbage, recycling, and bulk trash pickup.
• Assist in the loading, hauling, and transferring of garbage and other materials.
• Perform routine inspections, cleaning, fueling, and preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment
• Follow established routes and schedules to ensure timely waste collection.
• Report any safety hazards, vehicle malfunctions, or service issues to the supervisor.
• Provide courteous and professional service to residents and respond to inquiries as needed.
• Adhere to all occupational safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Respond to emergency call-ins, including hurricanes and other critical events.
