Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a Med / Surg RN with correctional healthcare experience and an active IL RN license for a full-time night shift assignment.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the correctional division serving adult patients in a correctional facility setting
  • Assignments may include various Med / Surg units throughout the facility based on needs
  • Night shift with 3x12 hour shifts, working 5 shifts per week with every other weekend required
  • Mandatory floating to any Cook facility within a 50-mile radius as needed
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests allowed
  • Nurses may be floated to units outside their primary area of competency and will work within a team-based model in those cases
  • A maximum of 5 days of time off may be requested, with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no weekend or holiday RTO permitted
  • If called to float, notification may be given as little as 2 hours before a shift
  • Strict compliance with facility documentation and onboarding requirements is enforced
  • Scrub or dress code details provided upon assignment

  • Active Illinois RN license required; no pending licensure accepted
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required for employment
  • Prior Med / Surg RN experience preferred, ideally in a correctional or similar environment
  • Lab work must be completed within 72 hours after accepting the offer
