We are seeking a dedicated inspector to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will ensure contractor work aligns with approved plans and specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting construction documents, inspecting materials, and documenting pay quantities for estimates. Inspectors will communicate effectively with contractors and state personnel while overseeing traffic control devices, ITS equipment, signs, pole foundations, guardrails, ramps, and crosswalks. The position requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of traffic control standards. This is a physically demanding role involving extensive outdoor activity such as walking, standing, and lifting up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Ensure contractor work aligns with approved plans and specifications.
• Read and interpret construction documents.
• Inspect materials and document pay quantities for estimates.
• Maintain communication with contractors and state personnel.
• Oversee traffic control devices, ITS equipment, signs, pole foundations, guardrails, ramps, and crosswalks.

Work Environment

Candidates will travel to various project sites throughout the state of Maryland but are tied to their Hunt Valley, MD office. The organization has 1 SHA inspector on staff and aims to add 2 more. There is also the opportunity for overtime. The company is a reputable WBE / MBE / DBE / SBE firm with a total headcount of around 50 people, serving both public and private sector clients in Maryland and Delaware.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Hunt Valley, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $68640.00 / yr.
