Park Operations Supervisor
The Parks & Recreation department is seeking to fill the role of Park Operations Supervisor. This highly responsible and professional position involves planning, organizing, and directing the operations of park maintenance, under a specific region of the County and coordinates with the other supervisors or managers to assure continuity of department activities and standards.
Supervises the operation, maintenance, staffing, and budget in a section of the department's Parks Division. Responsible for all the facilities including athletic fields, open space, picnic areas, shelters, restrooms, playgrounds, trails, parking lots, roadways, signage, landscaping, routine and nonroutine maintenance of buildings. Directs special projects, and oversees team assigned to complete related projects. Assists in directing contracted work. Applies professional knowledge of park operations, including both maintenance and performs facility inspections to ensure that park site operations, maintenance and programming meet all department standards, policies, and procedures. Coordinates schedules, contract, and supplies needed for maintenance. Provides liaison with other teams and supervisors, and outside organizations by coordinating tasks, activities, maintenance, to avoid conflicts and to ensure efficiency. Investigates and resolves public complaints pertaining to the operations of parklands, facilities, and public programs. Coordination with recreation team is required as needed. Prepares and monitors budgetary and cost estimates for operations, including construction, maintenance operations for their respective section. Makes recommendations on specifications for purchase of new equipment and supplies, and funding of maintenance programs. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating full-time, part-time, and seasonal team members; contractors, and volunteers. Approves payroll for full time and seasonal employees. Produces timely, professional, and concise memorandums, reports and other job-related documentation and correspondence as needed. Approves requisitions for supplies and assumes administrative control of budgeted funds allocated to the position's area of responsibility. Maintains a variety of records, including cost accounting for maintenance operations. Prepares technical reports and correspondence as required. Ability to lift 50lbs.
Performs related work as required.
Ability to effectively lead, develop, train, and evaluate Parks team members.
Knowledge of current grounds and structural maintenance, construction, leisure service trends, and park facility management techniques and best practices.
Knowledge of the philosophy, objectives, and benefits of Parks services and importance of related maintenance.
Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and monitor the work and progress of assigned team and section projects.
Ability to evaluate and propose innovative process improvements to parks operations, maintenance, construction, and equipment as needed.
Proficient in the use of software programs used in standard business office environments.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other teams, departments, communities served, and the public.
General knowledge of the permit process.
Physical Skills / Working Conditions : Ability to lift 50lbs. Ability to work, sit, stand, and walk in extreme temperatures for extended periods of time.
Education, Training and Experience : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years' experience in park maintenance, sports turf management or related field OR an Associate degree and six (6) years' experience in park maintenance, sports turf management or related field with two (2) years of supervisory experience OR possession of a High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years' experience in park maintenance, sports turf management or related field with four (4) years of supervisory experience.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations : Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM) within one (1) year of hire date.
