Position Summary :
- The Radiology Technology Lab Assistant supports the teaching, training, and research missions of the academic Radiologic Technology program. This role involves preparing, maintaining, and demonstrating both traditional radiographic imaging equipment and innovative virtual reality (VR) simulation technologies to enhance student learning. The Lab Assistant works closely with faculty and students to ensure a safe, effect, and engaging laboratory learning environment.
Position Requirements :
2+ years of professional experience in the fieldAssociates Degree in Radiologic TechnologyMust have the ARRT license for the state of FloridaKey Responsibilities :
Laboratory Support & Instructional AssistanceAssist faculty with laboratory instruction by preparing radiologic imaging equipment, VR simulations, and teaching materials.Provide students with hands-on support in operating traditional x-ray and imaging equipment under supervision.Demonstrate correct equipment usage, safety protocols, and best practices in imaging procedures.Equipment & Technology Management :
Operate, calibrate, and maintain radiologic imaging systems (e.g., x-ray units, positioning phantoms, PACS).Manage VR hardware and software platforms, ensuring smooth integration into lab sessions.Troubleshoot technical issues with both traditional and VR systems in collaboration with IT and vendor support.Monitor radiation safety and ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.Student & Faculty Support :
Provide guidance to students on radiographic positioning, image quality, and safety in both physical and simulated settings.Support faculty in the design and implementation of lab-based assignments, simulations, and assessments.Mentor students in the development of technical and professional competencies required for clinical practice.Administrative Duties :
Maintain laboratory schedules, equipment inventories, and usage logs.Assist with lab setup, breakdown, and storage of teaching materials.Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development discussions, and training workshops related to new technologies.
