Medical Scheduler
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Scheduler to join our outpatient clinic team. This role is essential in ensuring timely and accurate scheduling of patient appointments, coordinating with clinical staff, and maintaining a smooth patient experience. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments across multiple departments including nursing, imaging, and specialty services
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations prior to appointments
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and administrative staff
- Manage appointment changes, cancellations, and follow-ups
- Maintain accurate records in the scheduling system and ensure compliance with clinic protocols
- Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, and in-person with professionalism and empathy
- Collaborate with transport services (e.g., EMTs, ambulance teams) when needed for patient coordination
- Monitor daily schedules to identify and resolve conflicts or gaps
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical office training preferred1-2 years of experience in a healthcare or medical scheduling roleProficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systemsStrong understanding of health insurance processes and terminologyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask and remain calm under pressureTeam-oriented with a commitment to patient care and confidentialityPreferred Skills
Experience with patient registration and scheduling softwareFamiliarity with outpatient clinic operationsBilingual abilities are a plusPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $34.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
