Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position managing high-risk pregnancies and requiring at least three years of recent LDR experience.
Responsibilities
Position is within a hospital Labor & Delivery unitUnit consists of 7 Labor beds, 3 Antepartum beds, 2 Triage beds, and 2 dedicated ORsHandles high-risk obstetric cases, scheduled inductions, cesarean sections, and complex maternal conditionsAverage caseload is 55-75 deliveries per monthPatient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines and may be flexible based on acuity and staffingCare includes labor management, triage, antepartum, and occasional mother-baby assignmentsFloating required to Mother-Baby with basic newborn assessments and documentation of feeds / wetsUses Cerner Maternity for EMR and Surginet in the ORPrimary fetal monitoring with GE Corometrics, Novii, and Space LabsResponsibilities include managing high-risk pregnancies, assisting in vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and initial newborn careSupport staff includes OBT, charge nurse, onsite phlebotomy, IV team available as needed, and in-house anesthesiaUnit orientation includes three shifts in Labor & Delivery and one shift in Mother-BabyWeekend rotation is every other weekend; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays per contractNo mandatory call but low census call may occur with a 30-minute response time if called backGreen scrubs are provided; no artificial nails allowedPerm staff must wait 6 months before being eligible for travel positionsFree parking availableRequirements
Active AL or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 3 years of recent Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) experienceBLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications requiredProficiency in circulating for cesarean sections and couplet careExperience caring for high-risk pregnancies, including preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, preterm labor, and emergent C-sectionsMother-baby experience is highly preferredExperience with Cerner Maternity charting preferredNo first-time travelers will be consideredCandidates must live outside a 60-mile radiusBenefits
