Reporting to the Director of Data Quality Management, the Director of Data Stewardship is responsible for defining the strategic direction of key data stewardship capabilities and driving their implementation in alignment with regulatory and business drivers. These capabilities include business metadata management, data quality rule management, data quality analysis and remediation, and supporting data governance activities. The role involves working with various stakeholders to ensure that the people, processes, and technology required for an effective data stewardship program are operating efficiently, leading to sustainable improvements in enterprise data quality.
Major Responsibilities :
- Strategy and Framework :
- Facilitate the enterprise data management vision by defining, evolving, and communicating an effective strategy for the data stewardship program, including key capabilities such as business metadata management, data quality rule management, and data governance.
- Engage with business stakeholders to ensure awareness, alignment, and input on metadata, quality rules, and data governance standards.
- Data Quality Rule Management :
- Develop and maintain data quality rules, KPIs, and thresholds supporting monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to evolve and maintain these quality rules.
- Data Quality Analysis and Remediation :
- Drive the development of data quality monitoring and reporting capabilities.
- Ensure timely identification, prioritization, and remediation of data issues with stakeholder engagement.
- Data Governance :
- Contribute to policies, procedures, and standards related to data stewardship.
- Monitor adherence and engage in change initiatives to minimize impacts on data quality and definitions.
- Engage stakeholders to develop a shared target state vision with clear objectives and benefits.
- Develop a roadmap of initiatives to enhance data quality and value, supporting risk management, compliance, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
- Maintain stakeholder engagement through regular communication.

Program Leadership and Implementation Oversight :Lead data stewardship improvements through strategic initiatives and enterprise-wide collaboration.Manage project scope, resources, funding, and timelines to ensure successful delivery.Support evolution and compliance with data management policies and standards.Team and Talent Management :Manage and develop the team of Enterprise Data Stewards, employing performance management best practices.Cross-Functional Collaboration :Interface with business partners, technology teams, auditors, vendors, and regulators to stay informed of trends, best practices, and opportunities for synergy.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or higher.At least five years of data management experience in the financial services industry, with a proven track record in leading large change efforts.Strong understanding of data governance, master data management, metadata management, data architecture, and data quality management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all organizational levels.Proven leadership in building and managing teams in complex, matrixed organizations.Experience in retail and commercial banking or related financial services areas is preferred.Additional Information
