Site Director Of Child Development
The City of La Habra is recruiting to fill the position of Site Director of Child Development in the Community Services Department. This position is grant funded for a specific program and its duration is subject to continuation of grant funds.
ABOUT THE CITY : City of La Habra is located at Orange County's northernmost corner; La Habra today is 7.3 square miles, with a population of nearly 62,000. A quiet bedroom community, it is conveniently located within an hour's drive of many beaches, mountain, and desert recreation areas. The City is known for the Tamale Festival, Corn Festival, Citrus Fair, and the Children's Museum and Depot Theatre.

Our staff creates a community or learners, children and their teachers, who explore the world together. Children gain knowledge and develop skills in a play-type of environment. A play-based Curriculum, High / Scope, inspired by the educational and developmental theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, Dewey, and Erickson encourages children to explore, experiment, and construct knowledge from their play. We strive to serve all children and constantly seek ways to accommodate the unique needs of the populations served by the program.
DEFINITION : Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Child Development, Assistant Child Development Director, and / or the Program Specialist, the Child Development Center Site Director administers daily operations of a development center program operating at a site with the following major responsibilities : plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates the instructional preschool and / or school-age activities to promote developmentally appropriate student learning; trains and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; coordinates implementation of curriculum, staff and program development activities, promotes and implements the philosophies of the child development program, provides leadership for center staff, families, and students, and assumes and performs related work as necessary or required.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE : Must have one of the following issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing each of which has specific education and experience requirements :
A Bachelor's degree in education, child development, educational administration, or related field is preferred. Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in management and supervision in an educational setting, preferable in early childhood education. Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
CERTIFICATE / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS : Pediatric First Aid and CPR certified.
